Brilliant ads

We all know that Coco cola is not really a healthy drink. But still it’s one of the largest companies and the biggest brands in the world.  They have been on top of their game consistently. And to a very, very large extent it has got to do with their clever advertising. Coco Cola has a humungous marketing and advertising budget naturally. And it’s through its clever advertising through all these years that they have managed to create such a distinct brand identity in the minds of their consumers. Their ads have that international feel to them, yet they are highly localized to make that connect with the local audience.

This recent ad by coke, for example, is simply awesome. It makes that connect with the viewers and touches the right chord. The message per se has got nothing to do with coke though. These recent “happiness machine” ads by coke in some countries are amongst its most successful campaigns.

Ever since I saw this ad, I fell in love with it. And I saw it over and over again on the internet. I have been meaning to do this post for quite some time now, but you know how my life has been nothing short of a roller coaster lately.  While scurrying through our refrigerator, my eyes fell on a bottle of coke and suddenly this ad came rushing back to my mind. And there I was, with the refrigerator door still open, saying to myself, “Oh, I HAVE to write about this ad.”

I love this ad because this reinforces your faith in humanity. How innately we all are good at heart. How a little something we do for others cheers them up, makes their day. How these little joys are within everyone’s reach to give and how these little deeds and gestures go a long way in lifting someone’s sagging spirits and making someone’s day a little better.

Haven’t we all been in that place before? Haven’t we all seen how happy we feel when we do those little things (unasked for) for someone? How happy the receiver of that little gesture feels? Doesn’t that feeling put you in a happy place for the whole day? It surely does.

Trust Coke to come up with such awesome ads.

And while we are on the topic of ads, I absolutely love Dairy milk’s ad campaigns also. Remember this one?

All it takes is some kindness

We have all seen scores of those do-good-feel-good videos, haven’t we? I recently saw this small, beautiful and very impactful video “One day” by Life Vest Inside. It’s so beautiful that it got me thinking.

All it takes is some kindness, some empathy and some putting-oneself-in-others-shoes-kind of an intention to be more sensitive and aware of the people around us, to help them, to reach out to them, to give them hope, to make them see light at the end of the darkest tunnel. It’s really that simple. Everyone around us, even those who seem to have it all, are fighting some kind of battle in their life…health, job, fear, family, education, relationships…some kind. Then on some level, we all are same, aren’t we? We all have our insecurities, we all have our fears.

And for some people these days, being rude and arrogant has become surprisingly fashionable, and being good and nice is suddenly old fashioned? Huh?

I love this video. A smile, a word of kindness, a small gesture can really have that ripple effect. It can lift someone’s spirit and it can change someone’s life for good. And what more, it benefits both the parties. The doer and the receiver both go back feeling so much better.

Be nicer, be kinder, be happier.

Here’s the video.

One day Lyrics:

sometimes I lay
under the moon
and thank God I’m breathing
then I pray
don’t take me soon
cause I am here for a reason
sometimes in my tears I drown
but I never let it get me down
so when negativity surrounds
I know some day it’ll all turn around
because
all my life I’ve been waiting for
I’ve been praying for
for the people to say
that we don’t wanna fight no more
they’ll be no more wars
and our children will play
one day  (6 times)
it’s not about
win or lose cause
we all lose
when they feed on the souls of the innocent
blood drenched pavement
keep on moving though the waters stay raging
in this maze you can lose your way…your way
it might drive you crazy but don’t let it faze you no way…no way
sometimes in my tears I drown
but I never let it get me down
so when negativity surrounds
I know some day it’ll all turn around
because
all my life I’ve been waiting for
I’ve been praying for
for the people to say
that we don’t wanna fight no more
they’ll be no more wars
and our children will play
one day  (6 times)
one day this all will change
treat people the same
stop with the violence
down with the hate
one day we’ll all be free
and proud to be
under the same sun
singing songs of freedom like
one day  (4 times)
all my life I’ve been waiting for
I’ve been praying for
for the people to say
that we don’t wanna fight no more
they’ll be no more wars
and our children will play
one day (6 times)
oooooohhhhhhhhh
